Responsible sourcing and the Cycle of Gold

In general, when it comes to the sourcing of gold, its origins remain too often unclear, as it can be broken down and mixed. Streamlining the production of jewels means that each phase is well known. To achieve this, Bvlgari obtained the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) Chain of Custody Certification in 2015, then periodically renewed it every 3 years. Consistently, over 99% of gold sourced by Bvlgari comes from refiners certified according to the RJC Code of Practices and Chain of Custody standards, ensuring that they all adhere to strict principles that safeguard the gold’s origin and production process.

OECD due diligence guidance

Bvlgari also implements the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas, including the provisions of the Supplement on Gold, and is conducting due diligence across its gold supply chain. The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)’s Due Diligence Guidance provides recommendations to help companies meet responsible sourcing expectations and states that the standard applies to all minerals and is global in scope.
