Myth and Marble: Ancient Roman Sculpture from the Torlonia Collection
For the first time outside Europe, the legendary Torlonia Marbles - the largest private collection of Imperial Roman sculptures preserved to date - are on view at the Kimbell Art Museum from September 14, 2025 to January 25, 2026. Since 2017, Bvlgari has stood as a major patron of Fondazione Torlonia, supporting the restoration of over 150 masterpieces from the Collection to date and reaffirming its enduring commitment to art and cultural patronage.
A Landmark Exhibition in North America
The sculptures—restored by Fondazione Torlonia with the support of Fondazione Bvlgari—span from the late fifth century BC to the early fourth century AD, with most dating to Rome’s High Imperial age.
This carefully curated selection brings together deities, heroes, emperors, and funerary monuments, offering a rare glimpse into the Torlonia Collection. Presented within the Kimbell Art Museum’s celebrated Renzo Piano Pavilion, the exhibition marks the first time that such a distinguished group of Roman marbles is shown in the American Southwest, underscoring both the singularity of the setting and the historic significance of the event.

Organized into six thematic sections, the exhibition unfolds the depth and breadth of the Torlonia Collection, illuminating its extraordinary capacity to be read through multiple perspectives and narratives. The Myth and Marble exhibition debuted at the Art Institute of Chicago, the first stage of this exclusive North American tour, presenting to the continent a legendary collection that has been rarely seen over the past seventy years.
Fondazione Torlonia
The Fondazione Torlonia was founded at the behest of Prince Alessandro Torlonia with the aim of preserving and promoting both the Torlonia Collection, the most important private collection of Roman sculptures in the world, and Villa Albani Torlonia, one of the highest expressions of eighteenth-century taste.
Through conservation, research, exhibitions, educational programs, and publications, the Foundation is committed to enhancing public understanding of classical antiquity and actively contributing to the global dialogue on art, history, and preservation.
