Myth and Marble: Ancient Roman Sculpture from the Torlonia Collection

The Torlonia Collection embarked on its first North American journey, reflecting Fondazione Torlonia's ongoing commitment to sharing this extraordinary heritage, with the support of Fondazione Bvlgari.

Art Institute of Chicago

For the first time outside Europe, the legendary Torlonia Marbles - the largest private collection of Imperial Roman sculptures preserved to date - are on view at the Art Institute of Chicago from March 15 to June 29, 2025.
As a major patron of Fondazione Torlonia since 2017, Bvlgari has supported the restoration of over 150 statues from the Collection to date, further amplifying its deep commitment to art and patronage.

Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth

As one of only two U.S. venues, the Kimbell Art Museum presents fifty-eight masterpieces from the Torlonia Collection, bringing to North America one of the world’s most important private collections of Roman sculpture.
The sculptures - restored by Fondazione Torlonia with the support of Fondazione Bvlgari - span from the late fifth century BC to the early fourth century AD, with most dating to Rome’s High Imperial period. Masterpieces include deities, heroes, emperors, and funerary monuments, with half especially selected for this North American presentation.

Montreal Museum of Fine Arts

As part of its North American Tour, the legendary Torlonia Collection concluded its tour in Montreal from March 14 to July 19, 2026 at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
Bringing together fifty-seven masterpieces from the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire, the exhibition reveals the enduring vitality of ancient art through portraits, divinities and mythological figures that continue to resonate across time.

Fondazione Torlonia

The Fondazione Torlonia was founded at the behest of Prince Alessandro Torlonia with the aim of preserving and promoting both the Torlonia Collection, the most important private collection of Roman sculptures in the world, and Villa Albani Torlonia, one of the highest expressions of eighteenth-century taste.
Through conservation, research, exhibitions, educational programs, and publications, the Foundation is committed to enhancing public understanding of classical antiquity and actively contributing to the dialogue on art, history, and conservation, helping to preserve the past while shaping the future.
