Bvlgari X MB&F Serpenti

Bvlgari, a High Jewellery Maison renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship, innovative designs and rich heritage, combining Italian elegance with Swiss precision, and MB&F, a Swiss watchmaker that has redefined traditional watchmaking since 2005 with its kinetic sculptures for the wrist have joined forces for a new collaboration. The result is the Bvlgari x MB&F Serpenti, a Limited Edition of one-of-a-kind timepieces that challenge horological conventions, reinterpreting one of Bvlgari's icons.

Reimagining Serpenti

Following their first collaboration in 2021, Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani, Director of Watchmaking Creation at Bvlgari, and Maximilian Büsser, Founder and Creative Director of MB&F, chose to reinterpret Serpenti, one of Bvlgari’s most legendary creations since 1948, bringing it into the very mechanical universe of MB&F haute-horlogerie. Reimagining this universal symbol of eternal rebirth and bold metamorphosis into a Horological Machine required a complete redevelopment of this iconic watch not only in terms of mechanical engineering and movement conception, but also in terms of case design and manufacturing.

Vision and Expertise

The complex curves and biomorphic design of the Bvlgari x MB&F Serpenti extend beyond the metal of the case to the five sapphire crystals, the snake’s eyes and the multi-faceted rear section, creating enormous challenges both in terms of manufacturing and movement. Conceived and developed in-house by MB&F, the manual-winding calibre breaks all traditional watchmaking conventions to bring Serpenti to life: its eyes are animated through revolving paper-thin hour and minute domes, machined from ultra-light solid aluminium.
